Flight Termination Systems Engineer

JT4, LLC provides engineering and technical support to multiple western test ranges for the U.S. Air Force, Space Force, and Navy under the Joint Range Technical Services Contract, better known as J-Tech II. JT4 develops and maintains realistic, integrated test and training environments and prepares our nation's war-fighting aircraft, weapons systems, and aircrews for today's missions and tomorrow's global challenges.

Job Summary -- Essential Functions/Duties

This position is for an Engineer supporting Flight Termination Systems (FTS). This includes installation and sustainment of antennas, support equipment, and networking equipment to support mission and data communications requirements. The primary role requires development engineering knowledge with minor networking and programming skills. Duties include working with customers to identify system requirements and specifications, design, develop, implement and test applications, support fielding and analysis of applications, document, maintain configuration changes in a disciplined engineering environment. Candidate must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Desired Requirements

Flight Termination System knowledge of systems and components Computer and control system design basics FTS transmitting and receiving antenna system design basics Basic network fundamentals used in remote system setup and operation RF and test equipment used in the test and checkout of ground based FTS equipment and systems Transmitting antenna systems (e.g. iNET) RF link analysis and the generation of analysis reports Technical writing skills Utilization of Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) programs for system documentation (i.e. AutoCAD) Software development skills for use in requirements development and system development Program Management experience or training Current TS/SSBI security clearance

Requirements -- Education, Technical, and Work Experience

A Bachelor of Science in engineering from an ABET-accredited academic institution and eight years of related engineering experience, or an accredited Master of Science in engineering and a minimum of six years of related engineering experience, or an accredited doctorate degree in engineering and a minimum four years of related engineering experience are required for this position.

In addition, an Engineer IV must possess the following qualifications:

Comprehensive knowledge of concepts, principles, and practices of engineering to provide consultative services on development programs and in the design and development of systems and components Knowledge and skill sufficient to apply the latest developments in engineering to solve complex problems in the specialty area Working knowledge of computer systems and computer-based engineering tools Well-developed leadership skills Ability to investigate, troubleshoot, and design solutions to problems from a broad prospective Excellent communication and analytical skills Planning/organizational skills and the ability to work under deadlines.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in a typical office environment with no unusual hazards. Occasional lifting (up to 20 pounds), constant sitting with occasional use of computer terminal, constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, and constant mental alertness are required. Travel to remote company work locations may be required.
