Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Float Phlebotomist to join our team, serving various locations on the West and East Side. The ideal candidate will be responsible for greeting patients, performing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, and maintaining accurate records. You will be expected to provide excellent customer service and comply with all relevant regulations.
Responsibilities
+ Greet patients as they come into the lab.
+ Perform blood draws using straight and butterfly needles.
+ Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required.
+ Record maintenance data and decontamination.
+ Update patient information and handle insurance and billing.
+ Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.
+ Explain the venipuncture and specimen collection process clearly to patients.
+ Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
+ Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure accuracy.
+ Package specimens for transport and store them at the required temperature.
+ Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations and attend annual department trainings.
+ Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.
Essential Skills Required
+ Phlebotomy certification.
+ 6+ months of phlebotomy/venipuncture experience in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
+ Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
+ Previous customer service experience in any setting.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ High School Diploma or GED.
+ Takes feedback well and has an eagerness to learn.
+ Patient-first mindset.
+ Positive, hardworking, takes initiative, and works well with others.
+ Proven reliability and positive attendance.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $27.00
