Floor Plan Designer

The Floor Plan Designer is responsible for preparing and maintaining detailed design drawings, schematics, and specifications using computer-aided design (CAD) software. This role works closely with stakeholders to ensure accuracy and precision in floor plans, resolving design discrepancies and making necessary modifications. The Floor Plan Designer also contributes to the development and enforcement of drafting standards and procedures while evaluating and recommending improvements to CAD-related tools and workflows.

Key Responsibilities

Create, modify, and maintain detailed 2D and 3D floor plans and assembly drawings based on engineers’ and designers’ specifications.Collaborate with design originators to resolve discrepancies, clarify requirements, and refine designs for accuracy and precision.Utilize CAD/CAE software to produce high-quality technical drawings and schematics.Ensure compliance with drafting standards, procedures, and company guidelines.Assist in the evaluation and recommendation of CAD-related hardware and software to enhance efficiency and accuracy.Analyze and propose solutions to routine design challenges using standard procedures and best practices.Maintain accurate documentation of design iterations, revisions, and approvals.Receive moderate guidance from senior team members while developing expertise in floor plan analysis and drafting.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree holderExperience with CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, or similar) for floor plan and schematic design.Basic understanding of engineering and architectural principles related to spatial planning.Strong attention to detail and ability to work with a high degree of precision.Problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze and interpret design requirements.Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with engineers, designers, and other stakeholders.Ability to work independently and under moderate supervision.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in space planning, construction drawings, or facility layouts.Familiarity with 3D modeling software and rendering tools.Knowledge of industry standards and best practices for drafting and design.
