Floor Planning Specialist
Support Center - Irving

The Floor Planning Specialist will drive all macro space planning at a store-specific level. This includes creating floor plans for all new stores/remodels, reset project files, any demographic variation in store layouts, all aspects of unique store prototypes, adjacencies, store test formats, and macro space performance. Execution will include work within JDA Floor Planning, AutoCad, Space Automation, CKB Web Publisher and CKB database to determine best position of product according to unique building attributes. Driver of analytics and space performance to effectively space optimize sales performance metrics across all assigned Michaels Stores. This role supports Store Operations, Fixture Procurement, Store Development, Merchandising, Inventory, Marketing, and LP.

Major Activities

Design store-specific floor plans within JDA Floor Planning and AutoCad software that aligns with Michaels merchandising and brand standards that are compliant with federal, state and local regulations. This includes maintaining prototype plans and creating plans for new and remodel stores.Execute quality control measures for merchandise floor plans ensuring accuracy of store assignments, alignment with strategic vision and corporate standards.Validates planogram/store assignments to ensure accurate store/sku combinations for inventory allocations.                                                                                            Responsible for store support for merchandising plans acting with a strong sense of urgency to anticipate customer’s needs. Resolution driven finding long term solutions to challenging problems.Engage in special store projects, new store concepts, expansions, and category resets.  Responsible for collaborating with Space Planning Analysts to ensure project deliverables are met in accordance with timelines, space optimization and category strategy plans.Provides analytical analysis using Floor Planning and CKB exploring for opportunities to develop a customer centric approach to the merchandise floor plans.Partners with IT to support systems that identifies merchandise location for warehouse receiving process, Ad Sign placement, customer mobile app, and other business processes that utilize floor plans.Builds and maintains collaborative partnerships with Space Planning, Merchandising, Inventory and Visual Merchandising teams to gain credibility and earn trust of key business partners across the organization.Partners cross-functionally to gain alignment on merchandise plans in accordance with strategic objectives.

Minimum Education

Associate Degree in Business or related field

Minimum Special Certifications or Technical Skills

At least 2 years of experience in JDA Floor Planning and Category Management software. Knowledge of JDA Space Planning is a bonus. JDA certifications a plusProficient in AutoCADProficient knowledge of Microsoft Suite including Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Word

Minimum Type of Experience the Job Requires

2 years of professional experience in a relative fieldUnderstanding of architecture and construction industry practices and retail merchandising

Preferred Education

Bachelor’s degree in Merchandising, Visual Merchandising, Business or related field
