SUMMARY This position is responsible to perform the duties necessary to ensure that the flooring in the facility is maintained in a clean, safe, and sanitary manner. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES ▪ Must be able to work cooperatively as a team ▪ Keeps confidential all patient/employee information received ▪ Cleans and services the floors in resident rooms and all common areas in the building by: ▪ Dust mopping, sweeping, and/or wet mopping ▪ Operating the auto-scrubber in areas accessible to the machine ▪ Vacuuming carpeted areas ▪ Stripping, waxing, and buffing floors as needed and on planned schedule ▪ Responsible for transporting the garbage from the dirty utility rooms on each unit to the dumpsters on a regular daily schedule ▪ Maintains the assigned floor care equipment in good order ▪ Reports to the Environmental Services Director any malfunctioning equipment as soon as identified ▪ Reports any maintenance concerns identified ▪ Uses supplies as directed and in the appropriate quantity ▪ Adheres to the facility policies and procedures ▪ Other duties as determined by the Environmental Services Director. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE High school graduate or have GED preferred Knowledge about proper use of floor care equipment and chemicals is a must LANGUAGE SKILLS Must have the ability to read and interpret policy and procedure documents; the ability to speak effectively to residents, visitors, and co-workers; and the ability to convey ideas and instructions in an effective and professional manner. REASONING ABILITY Must have the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished orally or in writing; the ability to think constructively to solve problems; and the ability to anticipate the facility and resident’s needs, change goals and direction quickly, and multitask. PHYSICAL DEMANDS While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, talk and hear, and use hands and arms to handle items, lift, feel, and reach. The employee is frequently required to sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to climb and balance on a step ladder or ladder. There are times when the employee may be required to lift items up to, and occasionally over, 50 lbs.
