Floor Technician

Salary Range: $18.39 - $25.34

Pay rates are determined based on experience and internal equity.

Position Summary:

Works under the supervision of the Floor Technician Supervisor who reports to the Director of Environmental Services. Operate heavy equipment such as carpet machines, floor machines and vacuums.  Performs routine floor care, including, but not limited to scrubbing, refinishing and buffing of floor surfaces. After initial training on the job, the employee is responsible for following standard procedures in maintaining an assigned area. Must follow work schedules and established policies and procedures. Must work well under stress and tight deadlines. Must work well with supervisors, co-workers, residents, family members and visitors.

Position Duties/Responsibility:

Maintains all floors, carpets, stripping, refinishing and daily maintenance of various floor types and surfaces. Cleans floors daily by dusting and damp mopping and floor machine as prescribed by schedules and procedures. Buffs and sprays floors to consistent polished appearance as prescribed by procedure. Ensures all entrance ways are clean and that they are maintained. Shower scrubs kitchen floor weekly and cleans mats.  Follows cleaning procedures by following precautions to prevent falls by staff, patients and visitors by placing signs near wet floors and positioning equipment out of the pattern of traffic. Completes all assignments as scheduled at the Acute, CCC and other assigned facilities. Sets up tables and chairs for meetings as directed. Moves furniture and other equipment to complete floor duties. May drive cargo van occasionally. Performs other custodial assignments including storing of supplies. Able to lift up to 100 pounds. Some lifting overhead. Maintains equipment in good working condition and returns it to the proper storage location after use. Keep the custodian closet and storage area in a clean and orderly manner. Puts Customer Service First: Ensures that customers and families receive the highest quality of service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere which recognizes the individuals’ needs and rights.

Essential Functions:

The ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods of time. The ability to push and pull up to 75 lbs. The ability to grip and grasp. The ability to lift up to 100 lbs.  Ability to read, write and follow simple oral and written instructions The ability to be supervised. The ability to work as a Team. The ability to have positive personal interactions with staff, patients, residents and visitors.

Position Qualifications:

Education: None required but High School diploma or equivalent is preferred.  Experience: Have recent successful structured work experience, related work experience preferred. Certifications: valid California Class “C” Drivers License and insurable by the District. Skills/Ability: Understand, follow and implement written, verbal or demonstrated instruction. Perform heavy work, exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, exert up to 50 pounds of force frequency exert up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Be able to climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, stand, walk, push, pull, lift, grip, grasp. Perform repetitive motions on a regular basis. Use appropriate safety precautions and procedures.
