Summary
Position Highlights:
The Flow Cytometry Supervisor oversees the daily operations of the flow cytometry laboratory section. This oversight includes technical supervision of processes and testing procedures as well as management and supervision of personnel. The supervisor is also responsible for bringing in new technology, maintaining the department quality control and quality assurance program, proficiency testing, competency testing, meeting all regulatory requirements (CAP, JCAHO, CLIA, etc.), instrument maintenance and inventory management
The Ideal Candidate:
Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology required, or a biological science preferred Florida State Supervisor’s License in MT specialties of Hematology and Serology required Three (3) years of experience in a clinical cytometry setting requiredKnowledge of theory, testing principles, and instrumentation related to routine clinical flow cytometry laboratory procedures is required. Previous experience in clinical hematology and/or leukemia/lymphoma typing is strongly preferred. Ability to problem solve and troubleshoot technical problems is required.
Ability to adapt positively to change, and interact effectively and professionally with others is also required. Additionally, this position requires excellent organizational, written and oral communication skills. The supervisor must also demonstrate the ability to foster growth and learning in others
Responsibilities:
Budget preparation and review Cost accounting, productivity management, testing and auditing of the LIS, and other duties as assigned by manager or directorThe supervisor also serves to facilitate communication with and between laboratory departments and the hematopathologists. The supervisor may also perform the duties of a technologist as workload requires.
