This role is a part of Test & Flight Operations team, providing centralized support to Business Units with the focus on design, build and maintenance of the ground systems, test and launch facilities across multiple locations.
As part of a small, passionate, and accomplished team of experts, you will perform the design, procurement, fabrication, installation, and commissioning of systems associated with space vehicle launch facilities. Typical systems include high pressure gas and cryogenic fluid systems. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedicated commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable spaceflight.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Design launch pad, test stand and other facility piping systems supporting cryogenic and gaseous pneumatic systemsPerform fluid and structural analysis of new or modified designsSelect components and collaborate on system safety and process hazards analysisGuide creation of models and drawings of designsPerform system and component level analyses and document resultsDraft and review specifications and statements of workDraft and review operational proceduresCoordinate with suppliers on costs, schedule, and technical design requirementsOversee fabrication, installation, and commissioning of new or modified fluid systemsProvide input on cost, schedule, and technical requirements to internal customersOccasional travel may be necessaryMinimum Qualifications:
B.S. in aerospace or mechanical engineering (or similar discipline)5+ years of experience in a similar roleExperience in design and analysis of piping/tubing systems, experience using analysis tools specific to piping (CAEPIPE, Bentley AutoPIPE, CAESAR, etc.)Experience with solid modelling or plant modelling, design lifecycle documentation, and configuration controlExperience creating fabrication and installation drawings Knowledge of standard components, installation, and fabrication methods of piping systems (pipe stock, fittings, connections, valves, fasteners, structural members, fitting, welding, etc)Knowledge of fluid components typical in tubing and piping systems (valves, regulators, pumps, etc)Demonstrated ability with self-starting and managing tasks along with team collaborationMust be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylumPreferred Qualifications:
Advanced engineering degree5+ years of proven, relevant experienceKnowledge of ASME B31.3 and in-field oversight of construction, testing and/or operations of piping systemsExperience with AutoCAD or AutoCAD P&IDExperience with steady-state and transient fluid flow analysisExperience with structural hand calculations and analysis software tools (ANSYS, NASTRAN, etc.)Knowledge of precision cleaning processes/levels and passivation of stainless steelApplications will be accepted on an ongoing basis until the requisition is closed.
