FM Mechanical Trades Technician
Position Number: 010529 Department: Facilities Management (Adm) Employment Type: Permanent - Full-time Months Per Year: 12 Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The FM Tech Mechanical Trades performs under the direction of the Maintenance Operations Housing Shop Supervisor. Duties include but are not limited to: + Responsible for performing routine maintenance of HVAC and refrigeration equipment to ensure that machines continue to run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently, and/or the physical condition of buildings does not deteriorate. + You are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to use electrical test devices to troubleshoot and repair HVAC equipment. + Assist in diagnosing mechanical problems and determine how to correct them by checking blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs as necessary. + Use standard hand and power tools, such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches, to precision measuring instruments and electrical and electronic testing devices. Minimum Experience / Education: Required Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from high school or equivalent. Experience in the trade(s) areas related to the position’s role may be substituted on a year-for-year basis. University Preferred Qualifications: Graduation from high school or equivalent. Experience in the trade(s) areas related to the position’s role may be substituted on a year-for-year basis. Preferred Education Skills and Experience: + High school diploma or GED equivalency. + Associate’s degree from an accredited institution preferred in HVAC or Engineering Technology. + Experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC and refrigeration equipment. + Ability to effectively communicate the English language (reading, writing, interpretation, and comprehension) required. + Effective skills in verbal, written, and interpersonal communication. + Computer literate. + Knowledge and skill with Google Chrome, Microsoft Word, and Excel, and willingness to learn new programs. + Ability to effectively work/interact with persons from different backgrounds and cultures. + Ability to foster and create an atmosphere of teamwork. + Selected candidate must have the physical capabilities to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.
