About the Opportunity

Reports to: Safety Manager

We are searching for a Regulatory Compliance Professional who will be responsible for being the subject matter expert for the Company’s state and federal operating certificates and regulatory compliance with regard to ATF, DOT/FMCSA and the Company’s Explosives Operating Policy (EOP). This position’s activities will include the formulation and communication of compliance operating procedures, management of the administrative and filing systems, and the hands-on enforcement of such for the entire Company.  In this role you will work with, develop, and maintain, an internal compliance program for each department that is regulated by ATF, DOT, FMCSA, MSHA, OSHA, or any other State or Federal agency. 

What you will be doing:

Audit the Company’s state and federal DOT/FMCSA and ATF programs, documents, and compliance records. Maintain organized records of audits and corrective actions. Identify potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk; develop/implement corrective action plans for resolution of problematic issues and provide general guidance on how to avoid or deal with similar situations in the future.  Interpret, create and recommend policy/systems to comply with all DOT/FMCSA, ATF regulations, and Explosives Operating Procedures. Identify required training to meet requirements for regulatory compliance, assist in coordination of training through Learning and Development Manager.  Maintain professional working relationship with Internal Management of the Company, regulatory authorities, and third-party vendor for DOT compliance. Travel as required to various Company locations from Maine to Florida, roughly 25% of the time.

In order to be successful in this role, here is what we will need from you:

Self-directed and self-managed, performing daily activities with minimal supervision. Solid communicator with both Company, Customer, and Regulatory Agencies and is always a good listener. Keeps an open mind to trying new ways of doing things, thinking and acting strategically. Is an integral team member of the Company and understands the importance of this function. Represents a positive, can-do attitude and easily accepts challenges and assumes accountability. Proficient and skilled utilizing Microsoft Office Suite, especially strong with Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. Ability to work in an office environment, as well as perform site inspections in a construction field environment which may include: walking, crouching, stooping, lifting up to 50 lbs. Ability to maintain situational awareness through visual and audio perception of your environment. Must have ability to pass ATF background screening, and a valid driver’s license with own transportation.

About You

You are an experienced compliance professional with at least five years of relevant experience in a compliance role with working knowledge of DOT/FMCSA and ATF regulatory compliance. You are adept at multi-tasking and staying organized, and you are familiar with creating process and policy related to regulatory compliance. You have exceptional and highly effective communication skills with all levels of individuals in a team-oriented environment.
