The Clinical Director, State-Level position exists to assist the Focus Marriage Institute (FMI) Clinical Director oversee and direct the necessary day-to-day management of services and activities of the FMI Clinical Team in a specific location including policies, procedures, staff, quality of services provided, and general supervision of FMI clinicians; both employed and contract. This position requires a strong background in clinical, ethical, and legal issues in the mental health field. Experience in leadership and staff development is desirable. The Clinical Director, State-Level provides direct services through Intensive therapy with couples and spouses. This position also provides non-direct services including research, writing, speaking, program/product development, and/or committee work.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
+ Provides direction and leadership to assist the FMI Clinical Director oversee the daily functions of Counseling Services at a specific location, ensuring professionalism, promotion of culture, sensitive, and appropriate responses to the constituents and staff, and services that are consistent with the views, policies, and procedures of Focus on the Family (FOTF)
+ Oversees and maintains direction, focus, accountability, support, and motivation in all aspects of day-to-day supervision and management of FMI Clinical staff at their location in coordination with the FMI Clinical Director
+ Regularly meets with retreat center General Manager (GM)
+ Drives the innovation and creation of ongoing and new endeavors for the counseling team; including the utilization of new service delivery means and mechanisms
+ Supervises, evaluates, and reviews the Counseling Services staff to ensure that professional, efficient services are being provided in accordance with the philosophy, policies, and procedures of FOTF; consulting with Human Resources (HR) as needed
+ Works with the FMI Clinical Director to help oversee and manage recruitment of new therapists in their locations, helps coordinate with Training Coordinator regarding the progress of local trainees, and provides for the ongoing training and development of the team
+ Develops and leads team-building activities at their location and collaborates in creation of intra and inter-staff development systems and processes
+ Oversees therapist scheduling decisions at their location
+ Provides leadership in the organization and conducting of quarterly Clinical Team meetings
+ Protects the integrity of FOTF/FMI brand, model, and culture
+ Participates in regular meetings with FMI Clinical Director and provides regular status updates
+ Consults with FOTF/FMI leadership in creating and managing annual budget
+ Conducts a total of 16-18 direct service units of intensive work per month (1 DSU = ½ day)
+ Co-facilitates weekly FMI staff meetings with retreat center GM
+ Provides occasional on-call services which includes consultation with registrars regarding registration decisions and availability to help staff manage crisis situations
+ Active participation in monthly Clinical Core Team meetings, Didactic meetings, and bi-weekly Site Clinical Director meetings
+ Contributes creatively to FMI products such as newsletters, participant manuals, and enrichment events
+ Maintains weekly contact with management to discuss prioritization and coordination of work assignments/responsibilities
+ Travels to other FMI sites to provide therapy, enrichment and/or training
+ Actively involved in recruitment efforts
Other Duties/Responsibilities:
+ Performs other duties, including but not limited to duties as assigned, some of which may include the development and creation of a variety of copyrightable works (e.g., print, photography, film, music, visual arts, etc.) for distribution in any and all media and formats (such as television, radio, internet, wireless, DVD, satellite and digital) on a world-wide basis, all of which shall be for the benefit of Focus on the Family

Personal Characteristics:

+ Warm, kind, helpful, sensitive, and firm or directive phone presence as appropriate
+ Willingness to work in a co-therapy setting
Knowledge/Experience:
+ Master’s or Doctorate degree
+ Must be a licensed provider consistent with education and training in the state where employed—LMFT, LPC, LMSW/LCSW or Licensed Psychologist
+ 5-7 years of experience in counseling
+ Understands the integrative process as it relates to faith and practice
+ Extensive grasp of scripture as it relates to counseling
+ In-depth knowledge of FOTF mission, philosophy, values, and objectives
+ Understanding of political, social, and religious issues that impact the family
Skills, Abilities, and Special Talents/Gifts:
+ Possess good clinical skills (ability to counsel and assist others in resolving problems)
+ Ability to communicate effectively, verbal and written
+ Competent in use of PC software
+ Demonstrated knowledge of FOTF resources
+ Counseling skills well integrated with Biblical values and psychological principles
+ Bilingual skills desirable but not required
Salary Range: $76,956 to $88,398/yr
