Food & Economic Security Coordinator

Oxfam is a global movement of people working together to end the injustice of poverty.

This is an 18 months fixed term contract opportunity to be based in Lusaka, Zambia. We are looking for Zambian nationals meeting the job specs below.

The Role:

To manage partners implementing Oxfam’s humanitarian Interventions.

What we are looking for:

We’re looking for a candidate who cares about Oxfam's mission to end poverty and is personally aligned to our feminist principles and values of empowerment, accountability and inclusion in all you do.

An ideal candidate for the role will also be / have:

A bachelor’s degree or equivalent in food security & livelihoods discipline (Development Studies, Agriculture economics, Economics, Social work, Disaster Risk Management). 5+ years’ experience of emergency and development work and an understanding of relevant issues. Experience and proven ability to write field reports to Senior leadership Team (SLT) humanitarian donors (ECHO, DFID, OFDA, etc.). Proven field experience of managing an emergency food security programme. Experience, proven ability and willingness to work with / accompany partners. Excellent leadership, coordination, and representation skills. Community development skills, including participatory community assessment and planning. Diplomacy, tact and negotiation skills and sensitivity to cultural differences, and the ability to work in a wide variety of cultural contexts. Ability & willingness to extensively travel to the field. Sympathy with the aims and objectives of Oxfam. Demonstrated experience of integrating gender and diversity into emergency response programmes. Commitment to humanitarian principles and action. To be familiar with and abide by the NGO/Red Cross Code of Conduct, the People in Aid Code, Oxfam International procedures, and other regulatory codes (e.g. InterAction Field Co-operation Protocol).
