Food Pantry Associate

THIS IS A TEMPORARY POSITION
Essential Functions of the position are detailed below:
1. Distribute Choice Model food and supplies to clients on distribution days.
2. Coordinate unloading food from the truck Greater Chicago Food Depository and other vendors, and coordinate stocking of shelves and cold storage units with purchased and donated food.
3. Inventory food and supplies to ensure an adequate inventory is maintained and submit weekly inventories to the supervisor.
4. Enter client data into the database and complete all required documentation (Catholic Charities and the Greater Chicago Food Depository).
5. Oversee cleaning/organizing of the food pantry, including equipment and facilities, and report all equipment or building malfunctions to the supervisor/director.
PLEASE NOTE: Essential functions include all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
X Kneel and move from sitting, bending, kneeling or standing multiple times a day.
X Push and pull objects up to 25 pounds.
X Climb up and down up to 3 flights of stairs at a time.
X Lift up to 25 pounds.

Education and Experience Requirements:
Relevant Education:
Preferred: Associate's Degree
Minimum: High School/GED
Relevant Experience:
Preferred: 1-2 Years
Minimum: 1-2 Years
Qualifications & Skills:
Preferred:
+ Ability to clearly communicate both verbally and in writing.
+ Ability to lead a large team of dedicated volunteers with respect.
Minimum:
+ Desire to serve others, prioritizing dignity and solidarity.
+ Ability to navigate several sources of input and document a clear plan.
+ Ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook (email).
+ Strong administrative, interpersonal and follow-through skills
Certification/Licensure:
Preferred: Food Certification License.
Minimum: Upon hiring, Virtus training and Food Handling training will be required.
