Scope of Position:
The Truck Driver/Stockperson is responsible for safely operating Salvation Army vehicles to collect, transport, and deliver goods to various locations. Additionally, this position assists in social service food pantry operations, ensuring items are properly stored and sorted. The driver plays a key role in supporting the overall operations of the social service work while representing The Salvation Army in a courteous and professional manner.

Education and Experience Requirements:
• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Minimum of three months’ experience operating a box truck, or equivalent vehicle driving experience.
• Knowledge of local roadways and traffic laws is required.
• Experience working in a warehouse environment is preferred.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Strong communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds.
• Capable of maintaining time schedules and working independently.
• Ability to follow directions, work within set guidelines, and handle responsibilities with minimal supervision.
• Must be physically able to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 75 pounds with assistance.
• Knowledge of warehouse operations, including sorting and organizing goods.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Safely operate box trucks, pickup truck, or minivan to collect donations from various locations and deliver them to the assigned location (family service, corps, or Christmas center).
• Assist in loading and unloading goods and ensure proper handling to prevent damage.
• Picks up parcels along the scheduled route, including items to be returned, company orders, and other items as requested.
• Maintains basic records of truck mileage and deliveries made.
• Conduct daily vehicle inspections and maintain fluid levels (e.g., fuel, oil, air).
• Pick up donations in a timely manner.
• Record donations in the logbook/computer.
• Drop off and pick up food donation barrels upon request.
• Routinely check the temperatures of the cooler and freezer and record.
• Oversee volunteers in the food pantry.
• Keep the shelves properly stocked.
• Check the expiration dates on donated food items.
• Dispose of any food that has passed its shelf life.
• Keep pantry, fridges, freezers clean and organized.
• Attend assigned safety and driver training meetings as required.
• Assist with seasonal and special projects such as Christmas distribution, food distribution, or other service-related events.
• Ensure vehicles are clean, well-maintained, and safe to operate.
• Provide exceptional customer service to donors and the public, issuing donation receipts when necessary.
• Report any accidents, injuries, or maintenance needs to the supervisor promptly.
• Other duties as assigned by the supervisor or corps officer.

Physical Requirements:
• Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, twist, and lift throughout the workday. Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds regularly.
• Must be able to load and unload packages with and without dollies in various types of weather.
• Must have adequate vision to safely operate a vehicle.
• Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Must be able to operate hand trucks, pallet jacks, and other warehouse equipment.
• Must be able to drive vehicles including box truck, minivan, and car.

Working Conditions:
• The position involves exposure to inside and outside temperature variations, dust, odors, and noise.
• Frequent driving and working in a warehouse environment, including occasional work during weekends or holidays for special events.
• Will work in outside in a non-office environment.
• Will work in warehouse environment.
