Under the direct supervision of the Director of Social Services, the Food Room Assistant is responsible for The Salvation Army’s Emergency and Family Assistance food room. Hours are Mon-Fri 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

Responsibilities Maintain, monitor and organize the Emergency and Family Services food room.Responsible for meeting all health codes related to the food room. Monitor temperatures of both the refigerators and freezers on a regular basis.Able to lift 20 lbs.Monitor/order hygiene supplies, as needed.Inventory food and organize the rotation of stored food to prevent spoilage or shortage.Clean and sanitize food areas.Oversee delivery of food.Perform all the necessary record keeping (inventory of stock, monitoring temp logs) needed for the food room. Entery of data into Comet.Provide coverage for breaks and lunch for the Intake Facilitator.Help organize/track volunteer groups.Assist with Christmas distribution.Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications High School Diploma/GED.Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.Bilingual (Spanish/English) is preferred.Ability to work with volunteers.Ability to work with a diverse population.Serv-Safe certification to be obtained after hire.Must be able to lift 20 lbs.
