Food Safety Compliance Specialist

This position is responsible for maintaining all aspects of quality assurance and food safety to ensure proper, safe, and exceptional operation of the facility. Performs a variety of professional administrative tasks in support of the organization's compliance function. The Compliance Specialist serves as subject matter expert (SME) to ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local, food safety regulations in addition to maintaining relationships with agency representatives.

Essential Duties: 

\n\nPlans and implements traceability testing and monitoring \nIdentifies gaps in documentation, or potential areas of non-compliance, and suggests resolutions.\nResponds to standard requests for documentation or records based on established guidelines\nApplies proper acceptance/rejection criteria and marks items with details such as grade and acceptance or rejection status \nEnsures the facility meets all required food safety laws, regulations, and corporate policies\nMaintains food safety by always upholding proper sanitary condition, including allergen control and pest control guidelines \nWorks closely with 3rd party auditing companies and divisional assets to ensure company food safety and regulatory requirements are met. \nEnsures facility SQF standards are maintained and improved upon\nCoordinates activities concerned with regulatory inspections related to food safety and operational aspects. \nCoordinates accurate root-cause analysis to generate prevention strategies and implement preventative and corrective actions.\nCoordinates and assists in compliance reviews and audits as set out in the Facility Compliance Program. \nCollects and maintains compliance-related data or records that are accurate, complete, and fulfill legal requirements. This includes trend analysis, regulatory forms, corrective actions, etc. \nConduct weekly, monthly, and quarterly audits that are meant to track or ensure compliance of organizational processes or functions.\nMaintains a repository of forms, handbooks, policies, or other documents that are needed to comply with applicable regulations or standards\nOther duties as assigned to meet business needs\n\n

Qualifications: 

\n\nHigh School Diploma, Bachelor’s Degree preferred\n2+ years’ experience in food safety compliance or other related fields preferred\nExperience in State and Federal regulation of transporting and warehousing of wholesale food products preferred\nStrong computer skills\nOral and written communication skills\nDetail oriented \nMust possess strong critical thinking skills\nMust be able to work in various temperature-controlled zones ranging from -15 F to ambient temperature\nMust be willing to work the demands of the department which are subject to evenings, weekends and holidays\nMust be willing to travel to other locations for assistance as needed.\n\n

\n\nRegularly standing and walking\nReaching with hands and arms to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. \nSitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling\nRegularly lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds. \nFrequently lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds\nOccasionally lifting and/or moving up to 100 pounds\n\n
