As a member of the Martin’s Family, the Food Safety/Quality Assurance Intern will develop an understanding of Martin’s Famous Pastry Shoppe, Inc.’s quality programs by spending time in each discipline; Food Safety, Inspections, Quality Control procedures and Production.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties as assigned.
Possesses some academic knowledge of mandated regulations such as FDA and USDA Rules and Regulations, Good Manufacturing Practices, Bioterrorism Act, HACCP,U.S. Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act, Allergen, Chemical Program, Recall and Return Program, Hold and Release Program. Academic knowledge of general food science, food safety and/or food microbiology. Assists with the continued integration of the quality assurance and food safety programs. Assists with development, implementation, and maintenance of food safety and quality programs. Completes quality assurance testing such as moisture, pH, texture analysis and reports findings and trends. Researches and assists in analyzing trend data i.e. Customer complaints. Assists with organizing and developing training as it relates to the food safety and quality programs. Demonstrates strong proficiency in technical writing. Adheres to and enforces safety, food safety, quality, and Good Manufacturing Practices regulations. Reports safety, food safety, and quality problems to personnel with authority to initiate action.

Education and/or Experience:
High School Diploma or GED. Currently attending accredited institution majoring in Food Science, Chemistry or Microbiology.Physical Demands:
