Summary :The Food Service Associate II performs duties involved in the preparation, assembly, and delivery of food to our patients and other customers, including patient meals, cafeteria service, catering, and other meal functions. Assists with training and onboarding of new team members, and ensures that standard work is followed and quality standards are maintained in the delivery of patient meals and other tasks. Delivers meal trays, nourishments, and floor stock to patient/resident rooms or designated areas. Helps clean and sanitize dishes, utensils, and equipment to maintain a clean food service department.Job Description:KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Assembles meal trays/meals, snacks, and nourishments per specified meal order or diet guidelines, adhering to portion control and quality food presentation standards.
Loads and transports food carts, and delivers food to patient/resident rooms or designated areas following established procedures. Reviews the tray delivery reports and follows up with issues and coaching of team members as needed.
Follows established food handling procedures, monitors temperature of food and equipment, etc., to ensure food safety and infection control practices are met.
Performs prep work such as washing and peeling fruits and vegetables and cutting and portioning of desserts.
Cooks food using proper cooking technique to ensure desired quality standards for portion size, taste, appearance, and temperature. Displays and serves food according to standards and deadlines.
Takes patient meal order and enters in to nutrition software, ensuring meal order complies with the patient’s current diet order and allergies. Ensures that all patients have ordered.
Delivers and stocks food supplies in designated areas according to established par levels, ensuring proper rotation of items and monitoring of expiration dates.
Restocks and maintains food and other supplies in an orderly manner observing all food storage standards. Assists in ordering food and supplies, and the receiving and invoicing process of food and supplies.
Performs cashier duties, restocks supplies, and maintains the cleanliness of the cafeteria.
Cleans dishes, utensils, equipment, and work area following established sanitation procedures.
Assists with training and onboarding of new team members. Provides input for new orientation materials.
Collaborates with multiple disciplines to effectively and efficiently provide the appropriate meal service and floor stock service for patient care.
Delegates team member duties in relation to work flow and general cleaning needs, and serves as a resource for team members especially in absence of a leader.
Applies critical thinking to assess, plan, and implement day-to-day operations, and communicates updates to team members.
Performs quality audits for meal assembly process and follows standard work for tray delivery.
Uses necessary equipment in a safe and appropriate manner.
Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or GED preferred.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Ability to move freely (standing, stooping, walking, bending, pushing, and pulling) and lift up to a maximum of twenty-five (25) pounds without assistance
Job classification is not exposed to blood borne pathogens (blood or bodily fluids) while performing normal job duties.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Normally works in climate controlled environment, however will be exposed to heat and humidity from cooking equipment and also cold temperatures of walk in coolers and freezers
Frequent standing with movement throughout work area
Frequent exposure to sharp objects and instruments
Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock
Occasional high noise level in work environment
Possible exposure to hazardous materials
Interaction with department members and other healthcare providers.
