FLSA Status: Full Time - exempt
Reports to: Camp Director

Schedule: 40+ hours/wk
Rate of Pay: $56,485 Annually

Closing Date: 1/21/2025

Function

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Food Service Manager to lead our culinary operations at High Peak Camp and Conference Center. This individual will oversee all aspects of food service, ensuring high-quality meals, excellent customer service, and efficient kitchen management for our guests, ranging from campers and retreat participants to conference attendees.

The ideal candidate is a passionate and organized leader with a commitment to excellence and a heart for serving in a camp or hospitality environment.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

Menu Planning and Food Preparation

Develop balanced and nutritious menus that accommodate diverse dietary needs, including allergies, preferences, and cultural requirements. Coordinate meal preparation and presentation for daily meals, special events, and group-specific dining experiences. Maintain consistency in food quality and portion control.

 

Kitchen Operations Management

Manage kitchen staff scheduling, training, and performance. Ensure compliance with food safety regulations, including proper storage, preparation, and sanitation standards. Oversee inventory management, including ordering, receiving, and maintaining supplies within budget constraints. Monitor equipment maintenance and coordinate repairs as needed.

 

Guest and Staff Engagement

Foster a welcoming dining atmosphere that aligns with the camp’s mission and values. Collaborate with camp leaders and event coordinators to align food service with program schedules and themes. Address guest feedback promptly and professionally to ensure satisfaction.

Budgeting and Financial Oversight

Prepare and manage the food service budget, including cost analysis and expense reporting. Implement cost-saving initiatives without compromising food quality. Monitor revenue from food service operations, such as camp stores or snack bars (if applicable).

 

Education, Experience, Skills, Qualifications

Experience

 

Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Proven experience in food service management, preferably in a camp, conference center, or hospitality setting. Knowledge of menu planning and accommodating special dietary needs. Certification in food safety and sanitation (e.g., ServSafe). Strong leadership skills and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams. Excellent organizational and time-management skills. Budgeting and financial management experience is preferred. Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and extended hours during peak seasons. Driving If the position requires driving: Must be minimally 21 years of age and possessing a valid in-state Driver's License. Background Check Continued employment will be contingent upon a biennial (every two years) background check that is processed in accordance with The Salvation Army’s policies.
