We provide a safe and secure working environment for our staff while helping prepare an at-risk population for success on their road back to a healthy, productive life.** **What you’ll do:** You’ll directly supervise the assistant food services supervisor. Responsible for the management of food services, which includes the inmate dining hall and special services in compliance with MTC and customer directives. **Essential Functions:** 1. Plan, coordinate and supervise the administrative and food service activities of the department. 2. Provide staff training, evaluate performance and recommend and implement department and personnel changes as approved by the warden and coordinated with human resources manager, prior to implementation. 3. Assist the deputy warden, operations in the preparation of the departmental budget, monitor and control expenditures. 4. Assist in the development and implementation of new and revised policies and procedures affecting food services. 5. Provide appetizing, nutritious, realistically proportioned meals in a clean, comfortable environment. 6. Ensure quality of production and food purchase requirements. Maintain cost control to stay within budget limitation. Establish quantity of food to be prepared according to the menu and planned number of meals to be served. 7. Conduct inspections of food service areas. 8. Supervise inmates assigned to the food services area. 9. Supervise the preparation of food services for special facility functions. 10. Prepare daily schedule; assign specific duties to staff and inmates. 11. Coordinate with other staff concerning food services. 12. Promote the development of positive social skills through modeling appropriate behaviors and intervening when inappropriate behaviors are observed. Provide regular feedback to staff regarding social skills procedures and intervention techniques. 13. Maintain accountability of staff, inmates, and property; adhere to safety practices. It is expected that the incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned within his/her capabilities as determined by management. **Education and Experience Requirements:** + High school diploma or equivalent + Technical training in food service operations + Four (4) years’ experience in food services operations required, one of which must be in a supervisory capacity. + Knowledge of nutrition and methods of food cost effectiveness, + Bachelor’s degree and experience in correctional institution food services preferred. + Valid driver's license in the state of New Mexico or the state of Texas with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management. + Must attend and receive a state of New Mexico or a State of Texas department of Health certification. **Post Hire Requirements:** Must successfully complete annual in-service training requirements.
