As a Food Service Worker with VCH you will:

Perform a variety of duties according to Food Safe protocols and quality and safety standards including:
portioning and serving meals,assisting with food production by washing and peeling vegetables and fruit,preparing coffee/tea and toast,portioning desserts and assembling sandwiches and salads;preparing and portioning diet items in accordance with nutritional plans; and measuring and combining food and beverage ingredients by methods such as grinding, blending, slicing, dicing and/or puree.Checks patient/resident meals/trays to ensure dietary accuracy.Strip wagons/trays, wash dishes and pots, clean food wagons, kitchen equipment, fridges and storage areas and wipe down tables and counter areas.Sweep and damp mop floors and remove garbage.Deliver wagons/trays to patient/resident units.Retrieve and store food items.Replenish food, beverage and paper supplies.Perform related clerical dutiesMay operate a cash register and related equipment, receive payments and provide change for items purchasedAnswers customer queries.

Sechelt Hospital is an acute care, 46-bed facility located in Sechelt, British Columbia and serves over 30,000+ residents of the Lower Sunshine Coast. Sechelt Hospital provides a full range of services to the community, including Emergency care, Renal program-community dialysis units, Mental Health and Substance Use Services, surgical services, birthing for low-risk pregnancies and imaging services.

 

Qualifications

Education & Experience

Grade 10 plus one year’s recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.Food Safe Certificate Level 1.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.Ability to deal with others effectively.Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.Ability to organize work.Ability to operate related equipment. Closing Statement

The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes. Successful applicants may be required to complete a Criminal Records Review Check.

Collecting these records will allow for offering of any missing vaccines, and for appropriate actions to be taken in the event of any future exposure to a communicable disease or during outbreaks.
