Food Services Manager
**Job Title: Food Services Manager** **Job Description** The Food Services Manager will supervise 25-30 unionized staff in one of the dining halls, ensuring smooth operations, approving payroll, supporting scheduling, and ensuring timely food service. This position is an on-going contract with the potential to become permanent. The manager will report to the General Manager and Managing Director and may need to work on weekends with a compensatory weekday off. **Responsibilities** + Plan, organize, and manage operations within the dining hall, including residential student meals, executive dining, and conference services. + Provide support to the Resident General Manager in the design and creation of quality experiences, including setup, decoration, menu identifiers, linen, props, daily service, special events, theme dinners, and catering. + Collaborate with General Managers to ensure the highest level of customer service by developing and overseeing food service standards, customer service policies, quality assurance, in-service training, and proper food handling and sanitation standards. + Conduct regular service inspections and evaluations to observe food preparation and service, station appearance, and cleanliness and sanitation of production and service areas. + Obtain guest feedback through surveys and “table touching” to create discretionary guest-centric dialogue. + Implement and monitor housekeeping, sanitary, and safety rules and regulations. + Create and maintain strong working relationships with Heads of Colleges, faculty, administration, and students. + Supervise the dining room during meal periods and special events. **Essential Skills** + Management skills + Customer service + Culinary experience, including food preparation and cooking + Supervision and scheduling coordination + Food service and hospitality experience + Inventory management + Operations management **Additional Skills & Qualifications** + Associates or Bachelor's degree, preferably in culinary arts or a related field + Experience managing a restaurant or working within food services + ServSafe Certified + Valid Driver’s License **Why Work Here?** If you become a permanent employee, you will enjoy amazing benefits, competitive pay, and the potential for growth within the organization. **Work Environment** The work environment is a dynamic dining hall setting. The position may require working in shifts, including weekends, and involves supervising staff and ensuring high standards of food quality and service. **Job Type & Location** This is a Contract to Hire position based out of New Haven, Connecticut. **Pay and Benefits** The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $30.00 Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
