The Food Technologist will develop solutions across all food application areas (Beverage, Bakery, Dairy, Savory, etc) supporting our Texture and Healthful Solutions Strategy. Activities will include-preparing prototypes for customer meetings, ongoing customer support, bench top analysis. He/she will work closely with Sales and Applications teams to promote functional, value-added ingredients and solutions to meet customer needs.
Core Responsibilities:
Supporting implementation of Ingredion’s Texture and Healthful Solutions Strategy, including marketing campaigns and new product launchSupporting assigned accounts and leading customer projects with these accountsUnderstanding the strategy of customers and how it translates into their technical needs. Identifying how customers can improve and expand their product offerings using Ingredion’s technical solutions. Applying this knowledge to build value for customersProviding technical support to customers for a broad range of food applications. Applying product and application knowledge to identify customer solutions. Executing well-defined experiments and procedures to prepare food and beverage prototypesUtilizing a range of analytical tools to support customersConducting pilot and production scale trials at customers’ facilitiesBuilding open and collaborative relationships with customers and Ingredion’s Sales, Marketing, Quality, and Applications teamsUtilizing project management skills to deliver projects on time and prioritize work according to shifting customer needsEnsure development of high-quality prototypes for customers and events presentations from concept to finished product.Develop well supported recommendations on formulations; suggest next steps based on analytical evaluations.Conduct sensory tests to help identify best solution or direction for research projects.Prepare Application Sheets with nutritional information for prototypes sent to customers.Maintain ingredient inventory database and order replacement ingredients as needed.Maintain lab supplies from time to time.

B Tech/M.Sc in Food Science/ Food Engineering/ Chemical Engineering with 3-5 years of relevant industry experiencePrior customer experience and working with technical information (i.e., food formulations, food processing specifications, pilot plant procedures, etc.)Customer focused mindset, proven people skills, self-motivation and focus on resultsExcellent communication skills; ability to present to large or senior audiencesProblem-solving skills and experience dealing with ambiguityDemonstrated experience with hands-on food concept development formulation using culinary, laboratory and/or pilot plant equipmentKnowledge of common food applications/ processes, food ingredient functionality and ingredient interactionsPrior experience working with a range of Sweeteners, including traditional nutritive sweeteners as well as polyols and high potency sweeteners is preferred. Prior experience in beverage applications is a plus.Excellent sensory skills with ability to discriminate between small differences in flavor and provide objective feedback on samples.Ability to travel ~30% within South East Asia
