What you'll do…

Design & release/systems engineer’s position for air induction systems.  As program content, timing and other assumptions changes, other “triage engineering” may occur including sub-systems like secondary air pumps/brackets/hoses and other powertrain (and driveline) components that involve components/sub-systems that are assumed carryover but requires D&R engagement/ownership when issues evolve such as a test failure, commercial/releasing issues, assembly issues and so on. D&R engineer is the single point of contact for all aspects of the part design and systems engineering.  Engineer must have awareness, experience or the ability to efficiently manage tools which are standard automotive systems such as failure mode avoidance tools (D/P-FMEA, change point analysis, SCCAF, P/boundary diagrams, etc), engineering statements of work and associated information (requirements, design rules, interface designs, etc), bill-of-material management, supplier management/sourcing, sub-system program management/milestone delivery, PPAP, 3D/2D CAD (component) releasing, and other aspects of design/systems engineering.  In-person support prototype and launch builds of upcoming Ford Performance vehicles at assembly plants and test facilities. Must have strong problem-solving skills based on Six Sigma (or equivalent) tools and processes and have experience solving cross functional issues related to systems engineering (powertrain preferred but not required). Must be willing to support Ford and supplier plant manufacturing issues with short notice and reprioritized roles & responsibilities. Interface & lead discussions daily with other D&R/systems engineers, program management teams, attribute teams, suppliers, and management to cascade program requirements, ensure parts comply with required specifications and critical decisions are made efficiently. Will be required to deliver powertrain systems engineering and other powertrain components that meet program targets for quality, function, cost, weight, and timing. Ford Performance is a small team of dedicated engineers who turn mainstream Ford vehicles into extraordinary performance machines on accelerated timelines, with limited resources. Occasional travel may be required to support vehicle development and supplier reviews. In-person work required to support vehicle builds and testing & development.
