**Job Title: Project Engineer** **Job Description** Responsible for the technical aspects of a construction project, overseeing the planning, scheduling, and execution of construction activities while ensuring compliance with design plans, building codes, and safety regulations, often coordinating with contractors, architects, and other stakeholders to deliver a project on time and within budget. **Responsibilities** + Reviewing and interpreting project blueprints and specifications. + Developing detailed project schedules and work breakdown structures. + Conducting regular site inspections to monitor construction progress and quality. + coordinating with subcontractors and managing their work activities. + Analyzing construction drawings and specifications for accuracy and constructability. + Implementing technical solutions to overcome construction challenges. + Maintaining clear communication with project stakeholders including architects, contractors, engineers, and clients. + Maintaining detailed project documentation including daily logs, inspection reports, and change orders. **Essential Skills** + Strong technical knowledge of construction methods, engineering principles, and design building codes. + Proficiency in construction software for scheduling, cost estimating, and design review. + Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with diverse teams. + Analytical and problem-solving abilities to address technical challenges. + Leadership skills to manage subcontractors and ensure project deadlines are met. + Attention to detail and commitment to quality control. **Additional Skills & Qualifications** + Contractor or any building labor experience. + Ability to read a tape measure. + Capability to lift up to 75 lbs. **Why Work Here?** Join a well-known company with a strong reputation for building apartment complexes in the Iowa City area for decades. Operate independently, as the Project Manager is on-site for only a few hours a day. Typically, several subcontractors will be present, with a smaller core team of around 4-5 people. Dress code includes work boots (non-steel-toe), jeans, and shirts with no holes. Standard work hours are Monday to Friday, 7 AM to 4 PM, with potential for summer overtime. **Job Type & Location** This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cedar Rapids, Iowa **Pay and Benefits** The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr.
