Summary This position is located with the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Northwest Region, Wapato Irrigation, in Wapato, Washington.. NOTE: TRAVEL AND RELOCATION EXPENSES WILL NOT BE AUTHORIZED. ANY RELOCATION EXPENSES ASSOCIATED WITH REPORTING FOR DUTY WILL BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE SELECTED EMPLOYEE. Responsibilities Build, maintain and repair structures and upkeep of project structures utilizing knowledge and skills in carpentry, concrete and masonry. Implements approved plans, prepares and makes daily work assignments, maintain daily records on daily use of labor, equipment and materials for management. Coordinate and supervise the activities of the work crew with effective use of shared equipment. Supervise routine maintenance and non-routine rehabilitation of project canals, lateral structures, pipelines and drains. Assist with planning and make recommendations for routine maintenance. Operate, repair and maintain various heavy machinery and tools. (RELATED TO MOBILE EQUIPMENT OPEATION) ABILITY OF OPERATION OF MOTOR VEHICLES As an Foreman II Equipment Operator, incumbent must have the ability to do the work without more than normal supervision: repair and replace irrigation structures and facilities in the distribution of water; supervised maintenance crews including equipment operators; able to make timely water deliveries; thorough knowledge of the methods and techniques of concrete work and repairing damaged areas; prepare technical scopes of work associated with maintenance projects. BASIS OF RATING: The first job element is the screen-out element (Ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision). Under provision of the Civil Service Reform Act, first-time supervisors are required to serve a one year supervisory probationary period before their appointment becomes final. Those who do not satisfactorily complete this probationary period will be returned to positions of no lower grade and pay than those they occupied before assuming their supervisory assignment. In addition, your are required to possess a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License. TELEWORK: Indian Affairs has determined that the duties of the position are not suitable for telework under any circumstances. You will be required to operate a government-owned or leased motor vehicle in the performance of duties, therefore, a valid driver's license is required. Incumbent must have a safe driving record within the three-year period immediately preceding submittal of GSA Form 3607 and be able to meet the safe driving requirements of the Bureau of Indian Affairs. In addition, you must possess a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License.
