Summary
Directs and coordinates activities of workers engaged in repair, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, and equipment in underground salt mining facility. Directly supervises 5 to 15 employees in the Maintenance Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training; planning, assigning, and directing work; ensure work is completed on a safe and efficient manner. Ability to work rotating shifts, straight shifts (nights or days) and weekends as business needs require.

Supervises activities under their area of responsibility. Directs maintenance activities and delegates work to crewAssesses employee performance, development, training, and succession management needs in assigned area of responsibilityAbility to work with, train and develop direct reports as light and heavy-duty mechanics, as well as mill and conveyance mechanicsMaintain mobile equipment such as haul trucks, loaders, skid steers, man lifts, cranes and boom trucks. Maintain fixed assets such as a mill with crushers, conveyors and screens. Maintain mining equipment such as floor and roof drills, powder/blasting trucks, undercutters, conveyors and crushers. Assesses ongoing maintenance projects and job orders and determines work prioritiesEnsures safe working conditions and safe work procedures are understood and followed by crewCommunicates equipment and job order status to appropriate people and departmentsEnforces environmental, health, and safety processes in compliance with the law, company policy and objectivesProvides technical advice and/or directs mechanics to technical resourcesSupport implementation of the Reliable Asset Management program (RAM). Support a maintenance program which is planned, proactive, precision, predictive, and preventative maintenance culture. Controls and/or coordinates the allocation of personnel on shift, equipment and other resources to be the most economical choice and to meet objectives. Recommends strategies that minimize production interruptions and optimize production capacity.Assist reliability department with the development and maintenance of departmental operating instructions and procedures.Enforce and train personnel on production, quality and safety standards.Assesses employee performance, development, training, and succession management needs in assigned area of responsibility. Supports positive company interdepartmental relationships. Meets departmental performance expectations targeting the continuous improvement of the work identification, planning, scheduling, work execution, and failure elimination functions of maintenance.Work to continuously improve production capacity by identifying root causes of downtime and implementing action plans to reduce recurrences.Ensure completion of scheduled work orders meeting annual targets.
