Forensic Accounting Specialist

The ideal candidate for the Forensic Accounting Specialist role will be part of a dynamic and talented team of accounting & claims professionals that are committed to restoring the lives of our policy holders. We have some of the best claims leaders and handlers in the industry. The Forensic Accounting Specialist will be responsible for providing financial consultant services to Commercial Property adjusters to enhance outcomes of business income and extra expense claims while aligning resources to help drive overall quality through the Claims Excellence program.
This role will have a Remote work arrangement, with the expectation of coming into an office as business needs arise.Key responsibilities include:
Lead forensic evaluation / analysis of certain time element, employee theft, and inventory claimsBecome directly involved with the review of certain large, catastrophic business income losses overseen at the Home Office levelWork in consort with functional property consultantsDevelop procedures to drive a desirable experience from a customer service perspectiveAssist in business income loss training with internal property staffWork to minimize the use of third party accountants in evaluating time element lossesSome travel is required to service our internal and external customersProvide team status reports to managementParticipate in projects and business improvement initiativesWork with underwriting and product teams for all commercial lines of business to provide subject matter expertiseQUALIFICATIONS:
10+ years of prior experience measuring time element claims, including business interruption, extra expenses, inventory, and employee theftBachelor degree in AccountingCPA preferredProficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)Strong attention to detailEstablish a strong, effective working relationship with all regional adjustersStrong verbal and written communication skillsExcellent analytical skillsNegotiation skillsCandidate must be able to work independently and be able to manage a fluctuating claim loadMust possess the ability to communicate complex information in a mentoring/training situationStrong focus delivering outstanding customer serviceCompensation
The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
