**Description**
About the Role
The Office of Inspector General (OIG) works to keep the agency corruption-free. To accomplish this, the OIG detects, receives, and investigates allegations of fraud, corruption, waste, and abuse with respect to employees, or other individuals or organizations doing business with the Port Authority, who attempt to corrupt or unlawfully interfere with Port Authority operations. The Inspector General is looking for highly skilled individuals to join his team in support of the mission – to enhance and defend the integrity of the Port Authority's programs and operations
Reporting to the Investigations Manager of the Fraud Prevention Unit, the Forensic Auditor will be responsible for preventing and detecting fraud, waste, and abuse on Port Authority capital construction projects, primarily through the use of integrity monitors and the vetting of contractors. Performing background checks on contractors and subcontractors, the Forensic Auditor serves as the first line of defense to ensure vendor integrity. Incumbent may also be responsible for the oversight and training of other auditing staff and interns in the performance of vendor integrity checks.
To ensure that the Port Authority only does business with firms that possess high ethical standards and a record of law-abiding conduct, the OIG, in conjunction with other Port Authority departments, conducts vendor integrity checks and background investigations of prospective vendors, contractors, lessees and permittees. The Forensic Auditor’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
**Responsibilities:**
+ Conduct Vendor Integrity Checks
+ Review background qualification questionnaires
+ Search various databases for derogatory information
+ Follow up with contractors/firms to resolve issues/discrepancies
+ Coordinate with the Procurement Department to analyze vendor information
+ Perform special assignments
+ Perform duties in accordance withpolicies and procedures of the Office of Inspector General
**Minimum** **Qualifications:**
+ A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university
+ Demonstrated ethics and sound judgment, with an ability to exercise discretion on confidential and sensitive matters
+ Ability towork independently, as well as in a team environment, and take direction
+ Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel,SharePoint, Outlook, Teams)
+ Ability to prepare professional correspondence
+ Strong oral communication skills
**Desired** **Qualifications** **:**
+ Prior Investigative experience
+ Strong writing and editing skills, including the ability to prepare professional correspondence
+ Excellent communication skills, including active listening, conflict resolution, and interpersonal skills
+ Ability to analyze and assess information from a variety of sources, including public, commercial, employment, financial, government, and criminal justice
+ Capable of managing a high-volume workload in a fast-paced team environment, with the capacity to address unforeseen challenges
+ Ability to handle highly confidential and sensitive information
+ Strong organizational skills and proven ability to manage time efficiently, meet deadlines and multi-task
Selection Process
