Job Description:

The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Florida College of Medicine – Jacksonville is seeking a candidate to fill a full-time position for the Division of Forensic Pediatrics and Child Protection. This position will be a non-tenure accruing level of Clinical Assistant/ Associate/ Full Professor. 

This position will report to the Chief of the Division of Forensics and Chairman of the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Florida College of Medicine – Jacksonville.

The successful candidate will provide the following duties and responsibilities: 

Provide medical evaluations of children suspected to be abused or neglected. Participate in training and other professional development for team staff and medical personnel, as directed.  Participate in screening of child abuse reports made to the Florida Abuse Hotline and provide selected direct screening as required by law, or when otherwise determined appropriate. Be available 24/7 for consultation to team members and team physicians, including telemedicine consultation, when available and appropriate, for medical assessment needs.  Assure medical representation for team staffings. Participate in peer reviews with other team physicians and other medical providers.  If designated and approved, participate in monitoring of child protection teams as a member of the statewide designated monitoring team. Attend statewide child protection team meetings and other meetings and training sessions as required. Provide medical consultation in an area of expertise to other teams when requested. Provide depositions and expert court testimony when appropriate. Provide teaching of fellows, residents and students.

Expected Salary:

Negotiable base on experience and academic appointment.

Minimum Requirements:

Applicants must possess a MD/DO degree and possess or be eligible for a Florida Medical License.
