Forensic Toxicology Laboratory Supervisor I - Lenexa, KS - Monday 10:00AM-6:30PM, Tuesday-Friday 12:00-8:30PM

This position will be responsible for providing technical oversight and supervision of the non-exempt laboratory personnel on a single shift.  This position is responsible for directing the activities and workflow in the designated area with consideration of other lab areas and interdepartmental needs. 

Pay Range: $62,320+ per year

Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. Successful candidates may be eligible to receive annual performance bonus compensation.

Must demonstrate proficiency in all principle duties of a Forensic Scientist I, II, and III as well as a group lead. Oversees staff and activities of the department, distributes / assigns work, and determines priorities, and schedules non-routine procedures. Performs personnel related functions (hiring, training, continuing education, disciplinary action, terminations, etc). Resolves work related problems with staff and conducts performance appraisals as required. Initiates quality-control measures and monitors quality of work for adherence to laboratory standards. Performs duties of forensic scientists as necessitated by absence or peak workload. Responsible for planning and implementation of new instruments, methods, corrective actions, SOP updates. Prepare staff for Federal, CAP and State inspections. Responsible for departments’ annual competency testing process and documentation. Interacts in a professional manner with inter-departmental teams and groups. Participates in leadership meetings with laboratory management. Frequent communication with department staff is required. Required to protect patient confidentiality at all times. Performs other duties as directed by managers, directors and/or RPs. 

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Work Experience:  

6 years for a MT  7 years for BS / BA degree One year of experience in a SAMHSA certified laboratory

Physical and Mental Requirements:

Ability to perform routine and repetitive motions, such as pipetting Ability to stand or sit for long periods of time 

Knowledge:  

Must have the ability to establish work priorities for self and others and handle several procedures simultaneously including troubleshooting instruments and other problems/issues. Bachelor of Science or Art degree in medical technology, biological science or related field; BS/BA degrees in non-related field must include a minimum sixteen (16) semester hours in Chemistry, sixteen(16) semester hours in Biology, and three (3) semester hours of Mathematics; or as required by applicable regulations 

Skills:  

Ability to schedule and manage resources to meet department goals Ability to effectively communicate with co-workers within and outside of the department. Ability to communicate with clients and provide high quality customer service.
