Forest Carbon Analyst

You are an experienced analyst interested in natural climate solutions and developing forest carbon projects in working forests. You have experience in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), forest inventory and analysis, research, R and/or Python programming, and other areas of the forest industry. You are eager to learn, engage with subject matter experts, and other stakeholders. You enjoy working in a team environment and you look for opportunities to improve processes. You apply your technical expertise to ensure analytical rigor, effective project design, and implementation of our decision support tools. This position reports to the Forest Carbon Manager as part of the Portfolio Analytics Business Development team within Weyerhaeuser’s Corporate Development Organization. This position will be based in Hot Springs, AR, Seattle, Washington or Atlanta, Georgia. Consideration will be given to other locations.

Key Functions

Use a full range of advanced spatial data and systems and internal databases to process, calculate, and analyze forest inventory data to conduct statistical analysis of forest inventory and related data using industry standard approaches and software. Candidate will support design and evaluation of forest inventories and sampling protocols for estimation of carbon and other forest inventory variables.Use carbon registry guidance to develop and edit documents that comply with approved methodologies for validation and verification of forest carbon projects. You will manually create, edit, and update spatial data and attributes, create detailed and meaningful maps and data visualizations.

Experience of forest operations, including harvesting and silvicultural methods used in forests throughout the United States in accordance with local environmental regulations. Experience in coding and programming in either R, Python, SQL, or Git will be preferred.

Compensation: This role is eligible for our annual merit-increase program, and we are targeting a salary range of $72,742-109,113 based on your level of skills, qualifications, and experience. You will also be eligible for our Annual Incentive Program, which offers a cash bonus targeting 7% of base pay. Potential plan funding may range from zero to two times that target.

In addition, after being employed for six months, eligible employees begin to accrue vacation for future use. We also recognize eleven paid holidays per year, providing a total of 88 holiday hours.
