Weyerhaeuser is seeking a dedicated Forest Technician (Operations Specialist) to enhance our operations team in Castle Rock, Washington. In this role, you will assist in planning and managing activities within the engineering and harvesting departments. Collaborate with the regional log quality, planning, and land use programs. Serve as a project lead or team member as needed.Your initial focus will be on supporting the forest engineering function.

This is a full-time position, reporting to the St Helens Area Engineering Lead, with salary level dependent on skills and experience.

Key Functions

Assist with forest engineering activities around planning and field implementation of road layout, road construction, road maintenance, cable/ground-logging systems, and harvest unit layoutAssist with harvest management activities around compliance with all laws and company safety policies, check log quality on landings to verify bucking prescription, log quality and sorting execution.Strong advocate for safety within the team and throughout the operation for company and contractor activitiesEnsure compliance with state and federal safety statutes, environmental requirements and Weyerhaeuser resource and stewardship goalsEngagement in various engineering focused meetings with emphasis on work prioritization and planning associated with future harvest plan development and needed field work as directed by Lead Engineer/Harvest Manager. Participate in various harvesting focused meetings with execution on routine follow up items identified for harvesting team as directed by Lead Engineer/Harvest Manager. Represent the region for various project teams as needed including the Transportation Logistics Initiative (TLI). Associated TLI Field visits may include training and/or hardware troubleshooting and installation.Act as company representative with landowners, government agencies, and community representatives.

Associated TLI Field visits may include training and/or hardware troubleshooting and installation.Act as company representative with landowners, government agencies, and community representatives.Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Forestry or other relevant field and minimum of 2 years of experience in forest industry; AND/OR will consider strong relevant experience in lieu of degree – HS diploma/GED and minimum of 5 years of experience in forest/logging operations.People and leadership skills, including time management, effective decision making, conflict resolution, and a results-oriented mindsetConscientious and detail oriented with good observation, analytical, interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral)Highly motivated, and a self-directed team playerAbility to effectively interact with state and federal forest practice regulatorsExperience negotiating and administering contracts and agreementsProficiency in use of personal computers and related software applications such as MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Geographical Information Systems are highly desirableWilling and able to perform occasional weekend work due to operational timing or weather constraintsValid driver’s license, as work involves driving company vehicles on rough roads (25,000 miles per year)

Compensation: This role is eligible for our annual merit-increase program, and we are targeting a salary range of $56,547 - $84,820 based on your level of skills, qualifications and experience. You will also be eligible for our Annual Incentive Program, which offers a cash bonus targeting 5% of base pay. Potential plan funding may range from zero to two times that target.

Paid Time Off or Vacation: We provide eligible employees who are scheduled to work 25 hours or more per week with 3-weeks of paid vacation to use during your first year of employment. In addition, after being employed for six months, eligible employees begin to accrue vacation for future use. We also recognize eleven paid holidays per year, providing a total of 88 holiday hours
