THE POSITION

In this role, you will engage in essential maintenance tasks for district roads, trails, and facilities, allowing you to contribute meaningfully to the community. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
In this position, your primary responsibility will be to assist the district’s resource management staff with technical work on state forests, private and other public lands. You will aid in surveying land designated for timber sales, delineating boundaries, establishing haul roads, and identifying vegetation that may impede regrowth, in addition to determining limits for deer fencing. Furthermore, you will provide support to various personnel in assessing damage caused by windstorms, pests, and diseases. Your responsibilities will also encompass the maintenance of State Forest boundaries and participation in forest regeneration initiatives, which involve assessing competing vegetation, planting trees, monitoring planting locations, and gathering seeds.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
+ Seasonal full-time employment without benefits. The season runs from approximately March 2025 until November 2025 at which time the employee is placed on leave without pay.
+ Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
+ Overtime may be required during periods of high fire danger or other emergencies
+ Occasional travel outside the district for required trainings
+ Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
+ An associate’s degree in forest technology;or
+ Completion of equivalent formal education in forestry.
+ Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 6 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
Condition of Employment:
+ This position requires possession of a driver's license.
