**Job Title: Yard Hand Forklift Operator** **Job Description** A Yard Hand is responsible for the safe movement of products within the lumber yard. This role involves loading and unloading materials needed to support the rebuilding of surrounding communities. The materials include windows, doors, and various types of wood supplies, which are loaded by hand or with a forklift. **Responsibilities** + Load and unload materials for residential and commercial properties. + Spend 60% of the time loading and unloading materials and 40% operating a mid-size industrial forklift. + Meet with community members/customers to pick up bundled materials. + Build loads, load trucks (both company and customer vehicles), and assist with maintaining a clean, safe, and well-operated lumberyard. + Provide exceptional customer service by assisting contractors and do-it-yourselfers with material selection and loading. + Accurately pull and stage materials for pickup or delivery to ensure schedules are met. + Conduct cycle counts, keep the yard organized, and ensure the correct material is shipped and received. + Properly use and maintain all equipment. + Commit to continued learning on products, packages, procedures, and more. + Follow all applicable safety rules and procedures. + Follow all applicable rules and procedures regarding sales and inventory management. + Accurately distribute and place all specified building materials as indicated on the order ticket. + Ensure the pulled product is neatly placed and appears orderly and presentable. + Clean up and properly dispose of all debris. + Take initiative to complete tasks that need to be done without being asked. **Essential Skills** + Experience as an order puller, handling products, and production. + Ability to operate heavy equipment, including forklifts. + Experience with picking, general labor, warehouse operations, hand tools, power tools, remodeling, packaging, and manufacturing. + Knowledge of all applicable building material products. + Previous experience in a customer service environment. + Ability to follow safe and applicable methods of transporting materials. + Licensed/certified to operate forklift equipment. + Computer literacy and knowledge of current office technology. + Strong communication skills. + Ability to work independently with limited supervision. **Additional Skills & Qualifications** + High school diploma is nice to have but not required. **Why Work Here?** For over 75 years, we have built our reputation on service and quality you can trust.
