Forklift Operator

Position Overview

Responsible for the efficient and safe operation of all material handling equipment, both powered and non-powered. This role requires proficiency in all warehouse functions, including shipping, receiving, and order fulfillment.

Key Responsibilities

Safety & Compliance:

Maintain a safe work environment and follow all company safety policies and procedures. Conduct daily forklift inspections and report any needed repairs to management. Perform C-TPAT compliance inspections and documentation for all international shipment

 

Operations:

 

Utilize RF equipment to accurately process inbound (receiving), outbound (shipping), and internal orders. Ensure all transactions are accurate in terms of items and quantities. Perform cycle counts and assist with inventory accuracy and quality assurance inspections. Provide backup support for other departments through cross-training. Consolidate stock to improve inventory performance and maximize warehouse space.

 

Quality Assurance: Inspect and QA all outbound freight to ensure correct items and quantities, and that no damaged freight is shipped without manager approval. Palletize and load shipments to prevent damage during transit. Inspect all inbound freight for quantity and damage, completing appropriate documentation.

 

Team Support:

 

Assist team leads with onboarding new employees. Adhere to all department Standard Work Instructions. Maintain company 5S standards throughout assigned work areas.

 

Qualifications

 

High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Previous forklift certification (Reach, Dock stocker, Sit-down forklift). RF scanner experience. Excellent math, reading comprehension, and legible writing skills. Minimum of three years of warehouse experience, with at least one year of stand-up forklift experience. Physical ability to perform tasks including walking, standing, bending, and lifting up to 100 lbs.

Ability to take direction and complete work assignments within established timelines. Strong team player with the ability to work and interact with co-workers. High attention to detail to prevent injury and property damage, promoting a safe work environment. Ability to multi-task effectively.

 

Working Conditions Warehouse environment with adequate lighting, ventilation, and normal temperature and noise levels. Physical effort required for lifting and moving boxes and materials weighing up to 100 lbs, and objects on wheels up to 700 lbs.
