Forklift Operator - Coils - 1st Shift

Alpine, an ITW company, currently has an opening for a Forklift Operator - Coils - 1st Shift (6am - 4:30pm) in its Litchfield, IL facility to produce connector plates by operating press machines to cut and punch steel by size and shape. Starting pay is $18/hr.

Job Description

Loads, unloads, and moves materials within or near plant, yard, or work site and coordinates the movement of materials to the presses based on the types of production required.  Assist press operators in quality control methods to ensure a high level of quality product. 

Receives and stores steel coils as received.  Checks gauge and hardness of each coil at time of receipt.  Maintains coil inventory in organized manner and takes a physical inventory count as required. 

Mounts coils on presses and check coil at least 3 times during operator's initial run of parts to check teeth on plates for breakage, etc. 

Checks presses for oil and coolants and fill as necessary.  Oils the coil feeders as necessary and checks air line cylinders and drains moisture from traps when required. 

Keeps daily record of coils that are ran and those that are rejected due to teeth breakage, poor hardness and thickness tests, white rust, bad edges, etc. 

Assists with inventory of finished goods and raw materials in stock as required. 

Uses pallet jack to move finished product from press room to shipping area. 

Assists on presses as requested by supervisor. 

Conveys materials from storage or work sites to designated area. 

Lifts heavy objects by hand or with power hoist, and cleans work area, machines, and equipment to assist machine operators. 

Operates industrial truck or electric hoist to assist in loading or moving materials and products. 

Communicates with coworkers, management, staff, and others in a courteous and professional manner. 

Conforms with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures, and instructions. 

Responds promptly when returning telephone calls and replying to correspondence and faxes. 

Acts, dresses, and behaves in an appropriate manner to conduct duties and reflect a positive image of the organization. 

Provides high quality customer service to all internal and external customers.
