Forklift Operator (Warehouse)
**Job Title: Forklift Operator (Warehouse)** **Job Description** We are seeking a skilled and flexible forklift operator for both a lumber yard and warehouse environment. You will be responsible for operating forklifts and other equipment, handling lumber, and ensuring safe and efficient operations. Flexibility to work in either department based on business needs is essential. Comfort with working outdoors is required. **Responsibilities** + Read hand-written or system-generated sales orders to determine the product. + Note all special instructions for filling an order. + Operate chainsaws and other saw equipment. + Operate forklifts safely at all times, following all safety rules and regulations. + Perform daily inspections of forklifts as required by OSHA and report any necessary equipment maintenance or safety concerns. + Band lumber products for storage or shipping. + Assist in moving inventory for storage within the yard area as directed. + Properly store inventory, ensuring it is level and covered as necessary. + Assist in inventory and cycle counts as directed. + Keep all lanes and areas clean and clear for traffic. + Perform other work-related duties as assigned by your supervisor. + Be flexible and adaptable to changes that may occur during the workday. **Essential Skills** + At least one year of outdoor forklift experience. + Experience operating hysters or similar forklifts. + Good math skills. + Willingness to learn how to operate a chainsaw. + Ability to use a tape measure. **Additional Skills & Qualifications** + Lumberyard, pipeyard, or metal experience preferred. + Experience with flatbed operations and cutting equipment. + Willingness to work in all weather conditions. **Why Work Here?** We offer room for growth into lead positions and beyond as opportunities arise. The lumber yard is outdoors, requiring work in various weather conditions. The warehouse shift runs from 9am until the final truck is loaded, while the lumber yard shift is from 7am to 3:30pm. Optional overtime is available, especially during the busy summer season.
