Job Description
This position involves working in both a lumber yard and a warehouse. The candidate's performance in each area will determine their primary location. Flexibility is required to work either shift as business needs may dictate. The role involves outdoor work and requires comfort with varying weather conditions.
ResponsibilitiesRead handwritten or system-generated sales orders to determine product requirements.Note all special instructions for filling an order.Operate chainsaw and other saw equipment.Operate forklift safely at all times, following all safety rules and regulations.Perform daily inspections of forklifts as required by OSHA and report any necessary equipment maintenance, repair, or safety concerns.Band lumber products for storage or shipping.Assist in moving inventory for storage within the yard area as directed.Properly store inventory, ensuring it is level and covered as necessary.Assist in inventory and/or cycle counts as directed.Keep all lanes and areas clean and clear for traffic.Perform other work-related duties as assigned by your supervisor and be flexible and adaptable to changes.Essential SkillsAt least one year of outdoor forklift experience.Experience with lumber, pipeyard, or metal, as they involve handling long pieces of non-palletized freight.Good math skills.Willingness to learn how to operate a chainsaw.Ability to use a tape measure.Additional Skills & QualificationsLumberyard experience is preferred.Experience operating a chainsaw.Experience with flatbed operations.Open to candidates with a year of warehouse sit-down forklift experience.Why Work Here?

Work Environment
The work environment includes the possibility of fumes from industrial-sized forklifts, though it is manageable. The lumber yard is outdoors, requiring work in all weather conditions. Appropriate attire is provided for working in the rain. The lumber yard shift is from 7am to 3:30pm, and the warehouse shift is from 9am until the final truck is loaded. Overtime is optional, with busy seasons typically requiring 44-50 hours a week in the summer and 40-45 hours a week in the winter.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Tacoma, Washington.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $19.00 - $21.00/hr.
