Basic Qualifications:

Willing to learn or have a working knowledge in manufacturing and quality processes and principles  Prior machining experience  Knowledge of measuring instruments and gages for their operation  Read and interpret blueprints  Understand the speeds and feeds pertaining to the machine they are operating (where applicable)  Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Preferred Qualifications: 

High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) preferred Five to seven year's experience in set up operation of five to seven dye nut formers or equivalent previous experience with a fastener manufacturing company. Ability to trouble-shoot and solve problems of the most advanced level. Must possess a working knowledge of ferrous and non-ferrous metals and their alloys.

Physical Demands:  

Must be able to lift/move 30 lbs. (may not exceed per EHS policies)  Must be able to stand for long periods of time

Sets up and operates multi-station Nut Former and Formax to produce parts consistent with print specifications. Able to trouble shoot all forming and tooling issues in the department as necessary.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Independently operates and makes complete set ups on National and Formax Nut Formers producing parts to dimensional tolerance as specified by drawing, nut former parts prints and machine layouts. Selects, mounts, and adjusts proper punches and dye sets. Assembles dyes and punches using Hydraulic press. Sets machine speeds, feeds and stops. Utilizes extensive knowledge of metal flow capabilities of various metals to operate equipment and produce parts, avoiding fractures and folds in the finished product. Checks parts with standard gauges or precision measuring instruments and submits parts for “first article” inspection as required.                                                         Utilizes knowledge of metal flow capabilities of various metals to operate equipment and produce parts consistent with print specifications.                                 Recognizes improper machine functioning and/or tooling problems and takes corrective action. Directs and assists operators and trainees during various stages of production runs if necessary. Parts to be lifted and/or transported may weigh up to 30 lbs.      Keeps work area clean (and equipment), safe and in an orderly fashion daily. Performs other tasks of equal or lesser skill as required.
