Job Title: Lab Supervisor

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Lab Supervisor to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for the formulation of chemical products for customers, developing testing processes, and managing the overall workload of the lab. You will work closely with customers to scope out projects, collaborate with vendors and suppliers for materials and pricing, and supervise a team of chemists.

ResponsibilitiesFormulate chemical products for customers daily.Develop formulation testing, application testing, and overall processes to create formulas for customers.Collaborate with customers to understand their product/application needs.Work with vendors and suppliers to procure materials for formulation projects and manage pricing.Manage daily and weekly workloads and projects, ensuring deadlines are met.Maintain lab safety and cleanliness.Supervise and train two chemists, providing coaching and technical leadership for coatings, adhesives, sealants, and elastomers.Interact with customers, vendors, and suppliers to qualify projects and obtain necessary materials.Essential SkillsExperience with formulation of coatings, adhesives, polymers, epoxies, urethanes, water-based or solvent-based products.Ability to qualify projects with customers and handle formulation/reformulation from start to finish.Supervisory and management experience, including training and coaching a team.Strong interaction skills with customers, vendors, and suppliers.Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience in chemistry and product development.Innovative mindset with a diverse approach to working with different materials.Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.Willingness to travel to meet with customers, vendors, and suppliers.Work Environment

The work schedule is Monday through Friday, with a start time between 7:00 a.m. and 8:30 a.m., totaling 40 to 45 hours per week depending on workload. The role involves working in the lab about one-third of the time, interacting with customers/vendors/suppliers another third, and managing/working with the chemists and handling administrative or basic lab functions for the remaining third. Some travel is required, typically once per month or less. The company offers a close-knit, family-like team environment with a focus on innovation and a strong benefits program.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $48.08 - $67.31/hr.
