Job Description
Seeking a highly skilled and motivated Formulations Technical Services Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelors or Masters in Chemistry or a related field, with a minimum of 2-3 years of industry experience in personal care formulations. This position requires an individual who can work independently in the lab, manage multiple projects, and effectively communicate with clients and team members.
ResponsibilitiesConduct bench top formulations.Perform various wet chemistry tests such as water activity, viscosity, and solids content.Conduct applications testing utilizing Dia-Stron instrumentation.Manage projects from concept to finished product.Support Sales/Marketing teams by creating prototypes to showcase technologies.Collaborate with Sales/Marketing teams, Technical Manager, and Technical Service personnel to develop formulations that meet customer needs.Research and source raw materials from vendors.Investigate product formulations, properties, and interactions of raw materials.Manage multiple, concurrent development projects.Communicate formulation, project status, and results to relevant individuals in a timely manner.Stay updated on market trends and formulation ingredients.Make recommendations for the development of the Wet Chemistry Laboratory.Maintain the Wet Chemistry Laboratory and supporting documentation, reports, and instruments.Assist microbiology and prep laboratories as needed.Provide technical training for sales force, lab personnel, and visiting customers.Ensure high standards of lab safety and health in compliance with OSHA and other relevant codes.Participate in establishing and carrying out quality management system policies, including conducting quality audits.Attend relevant courses and seminars to enhance product development and formulation skills.Work with administrative staff to update and maintain formulation and technical literature.Promote and maintain high morale and cooperation within the organization.Comply with company safety, health, and environmental policies.Maintain organized filing systems in accordance with company policy.Essential SkillsBS/MS in Chemistry, Biology, or related field2-3 years of industry experience with benchtop formulationKnowledge of industry trendsProficient communication and computer skillsKnowledge of personal care and household products raw materials and their functionality and interactionsUnderstanding of emulsion and surfactant technology as well as general formulation techniquesAttention to detail and organizationAbility to work autonomously with an aptitude for innovationHighly collaborative with a passion for formulationAdditional Skills & QualificationsExperience with GMPExperience with R&D, Emulsions, and BatchingStrong affinity for detail and organizational skillsWork Environment
The work hours are Monday to Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM, with flexibility depending on the discretion of the group leader. Options include working from 7 AM to 3 PM, 8 AM to 4 PM, etc. The role involves working independently in the lab, alongside a lab manager who divides their time between four labs. The formulations department consists of one person. The position reports to the Group Leader of Personal Care/Household Products.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr.
