Hiring Experienced Formwork Carpenters

Description:

The Formwork Carpenter will be working on commercial formwork projects, reporting to the Foreman/Superintendent. The successful candidate will be expected to work independently and lead labourers and apprentices. Some daily duties include, building and stripping forms, building hoarding, tying rebar, and using hand and power tools.

Duties:

- Construct, erect, install, and strip formwork systems

- Form footings, pile caps, grade beams, slabs and other concrete structures

- Install anchor bolts and embedded steel for concrete pours

- Building hoardings and frame temporary shelters when required

- Tying of rebar, pouring and finishing concrete

- Proficient in the use of hand tools

- Ensure that formwork and shoring are erected, supported, and dismantled based on engineering designs and drawings

- projects will primarily be in town work but there is some out of town work expected. 90% will be in town 10% out of town (out of town will have $50 per diem available)

- with the nature of concrete pouring there can be long days and even some over night shifts depending on project deadlines

Required:

PPE/dress code - company supplies vest, hard hat, and safety glasses. Carpenters need to provide work boots, gloves, and tool belt with basic tools. Jeans and a long sleeves.

Team Size:

Not a major GC so things are a lot smaller, and they work together as a big team.

Will be working on a team as small as 2 and as large as 20 or more depending on the project. They will report to the site foreman. They will not have any direct reports but may be responsible for the direction of laborers.

Schedule:

Monday to Friday

Start Time 7:00 am

Typical End Time: 5:00 pm *Overtime during the season is VERY COMMON. Applicants must be willing to work 50-60 hours per week.

Overtime:

50-60 total hours per week is common during the busy season.

Overtime is accumulated after 8 hours in a given day or 44 hours in a given week.

Work conditions:

Projects are located outside. Contractors must be able to work in all weather conditions that permit the pouring of concrete
