The Foundation Accountant will have a full FTE divided into the following allocated responsibilities:
Foundation Daily Operations Accounting – 70% Public/Government Grant Accounting – 25% Philanthropic Foundation Grant Accounting – 5%This position is expected to demonstrate behavior consistent with the core values of St. Peter’s Health and support the goals and direction of the quality improvement process. The position will report to the Senior Director of Finance and People Operations with supervision and direction provided by the Finance Supervisor and various members of the Foundation.
The Foundation Accountant will work closely with the Finance department in the following specific functions:
Help launch and maintain the Blackbaud FE accounting package and manage the on-going FE communication/reporting tie with RE donor database and gift entry modules Prepare daily Foundation checks for Foundation VP signature (or other authorized signors) to include Patient Assistance, Employee Assistance, Olson Institute scholarship award payments (to educational institutions or recipients), payments/reimbursements to SPH, vendors, etc. Produce the monthly Foundation financials Perform monthly bank reconciliations Initiate all timely transfers of donations/funds from Foundation checking to appropriate Foundation investment accounts Donation and fund reconciliations between RE donor system and FE accounting system Produce and provide the endowed and non-endowed restricted fund balance reports quarterly and share with the assigned SPH fund owners to help ensure SPH leaders know what funds are available in their respective areas/business lines Perform valuations on the charitable gift annuities and initiate and oversee third-party payments to gift annuitants per the annuity agreements Produce annually the endowed fund investment summary reports to be provided to every living endowed fund donor (or trust company/wealth manager.) The Foundation will then produce the donor impact letters/statements to accompany the annual endowed fund investment reports Assist with the Foundation Form 990 process and other tax reports Assist with the annual Foundation portion of the SPH system audit Other duties as identified and assignedKNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE: Requires verbal, analytical, and interpersonal skills necessary to deal effectively with various personnel and external customers/donors. The ability to listen constructively and analyze or make changes to processes and systems that will improve the integrity of the overall information system. The ability to comprehend detailed verbal and written instructions in order to complete complex and detailed reports without director or constant supervision. Extensive knowledge of Excel required. One to three years hospital, foundation or non-profit experience preferred. Knowledge of Financial Edge software desired.
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required.
