Foundation Development Officer

Responsibilities

The Virginia Mason Franciscan Health Foundation provides philanthropic support throughout the greater VMFH system. The Foundation’s mission is simple: to be a catalyst of our donors’ passion for transformation by providing the resources for Virginia Mason Franciscan Health to achieve its mission of being the most trusted destination for health.

At the VMFH Foundation, we are in need of an experienced Development Officer (Major Gift Officer) to serve as a member of the development staff. You will be responsible for growing and maintaining a comprehensive major gifts portfolio consisting of major philanthropists and high net worth individuals, capable of giving gifts in excess of $25,000. To do this, you must be skilled at the art of both communication and relationship building, while having a passion for connecting a donors’ interest to our system needs.

From initial discovery work through personalized stewardship, your strong knowledge of development-based fundraising tactics will be used to reach out and meet with donors and prospects in the local community. Your daily work will also include serving as an Entity Engagement Liaison to our various VMFH entities (i.e. hospitals, hospice, research, institute, etc.), identifying key internal stakeholders, building relationships and creating a two-way flow of information that will in turn be used to deepen the connection and impact for our donors.

> An ability to demonstrate strong organizational and communication skills.

> Superior strategic and analytical thinking ability, along with creative problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities:


> Responsible for successfully building and managing a portfolio of prospects and donors.
> Secure gifts of $25,000, or more, for a changing set of projects and programs.
> Cultivate new prospects through the creation of effective donor management strategies.
> Effectively move a portfolio of prospects through the complete giving cycle of Discovery, Cultivation, and Solicitation.

Stewardship:


> Ability to manage a CRM system to track and cultivate relationships.
> Ability to prioritize tasks, handle multiple assignments and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment, all while maintaining strict attention to detail.


Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in related field.5 years related experience in individual donor development and/or fund development.Demonstrated success in securing major/mid-level gift support from individuals.

Preferred:

Certified Fund-Raising Executive (CFRE) preferred.
