The Role:

Serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages and food to guests in a restaurant and music hall atmosphere with a cheerful attitude and in an efficient, professional manner.

Responsibilities:

Welcome and acknowledge Foundation Room members, Live Nation Executives and VIP’s to instill appreciation for their membership and patronageImpeccable knowledge in the steps of delivering service for up-scale diningStays current and is knowledgeable on the latest drink trendsUnderstands the fundamentals of Mixology and ability to uphold our Beverage CultureDeep knowledge of how food, wine, beer, spirits and other beverage work in harmony with food selectionThe ability to suggest wines that will best complement particular foods off the food menuEnsure responsible alcohol service per local ordinance alcohol awareness training and House of Blues alcohol policiesRequest proper identification for anyone appearing under 30 years of ageInteract with guests in a natural, friendly demeanorCultivate regular guests and repeat businessSuccessfully complete a pour test prior to every shift, where applicableSuggestively sell both beverages and menu items to guests at the barDeliver food items and beverage orders promptlyPrioritize and organize drink ordersConsistently prepare beverages according to standard recipes and venue specifications, abide by all control systemsRecord any equipment failure and/or safety hazards in bar logRecognize when guests are becoming too intoxicated and refuse further service of alcohol in a courteous and safety-minded manner, bringing it to the attention of a managerEnsure responsible alcohol service per local ordinance alcohol awareness training and HOB alcohol policiesRequest proper identification for anyone appearing under 30 years of ageMaintain HOB safety and sanitation standardsPerform Opening/Running/Closing duties according to HOB policyPrepare guest checks (on point of sales terminal) and process payment according to HOB policyMaintain bartender bankPerform cash pull / check out proceduresMaintain appropriate Comp and Spill checksAttend pre-shift meeting conducted by Manager on Duty prior to start of each shift

Qualifications:

Required:

Applicable State or County Licensee or Certification Requirement/ Responsible Alcohol Awareness Training Certification or EquivalentMinimum of 2 years experience bartending in a up-scale dining and night life establishmentThe ability to up sell and offer food and drink suggestions to guestsArticulate vocabulary with the ability to adapt and socialize with current audienceExemplary and professional grooming standardsFlexible schedule and ability to work late hours and at nightsCash handling experienceStrong working knowledge of all beveragesPhysically able to pass a pour test and a Mixology drill (timed)Ability to deal with intoxicated guests in a positive and safety minded mannerSkill in interpersonal communication and teamworkTolerance of all cultures, music and art forms

Preferred:

2 years work experience in high volume environmentExperience recognizing valid ID’sExperience in a live music environment 

Physical Demands/Working Environment:

Working environment is fast-paced, often loud and stressfulPosition requires extended periods of prolonged standing and working on your feetMust be able to lift or move up to 25 lbs using proper lifting techniques
