Foundry Operator
Tasks and responsibilities: + Collect samples for analysis + Pour and regulate molten metal flows into molds to produce ingots or other castings, using ladles and hand-controlled mechanisms + Prepare molten metal using various degassing and alloy addition techniques + Following gauge temperature readings and according to product criteria cast molten aluminum into ceramic molds + Ensure molds are clean and properly set up for casting operations + Position equipment (ladles and crucibles); + Remove excess metal (skim slag) from pots using hand tools and skimmers and collect scrap for recycling; + Charge crucibles with ingot and revert to specific amounts of metal** + Loading and unloading of molds from furnaces Skills: + Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control and other techniques to effectively maximize the manufacturing and distribution of goods; + Knowledge of gauges, dials and other indicators to evaluate proper machinery functioning; + Ability to work in a team environment; + Demonstrate good communication skills; + Possess good judgement overall; + Effective time management skills; + Knowledge of machinery maintenance and ability to judge when it is needed; + Possess good reading and writing skills + Ability to work in a challenging environment with higher operating temperatures + Ability to lift to 50 lbs In accordance with the OHRC and the AODA, Howmet Canada Company is committed to providing accommodation in its recruitment processes to applicants with disabilities, upon request.
