FP&A MANAGER


Responsible for leading and performing insightful analysis of corporate/restaurant financial and operational performance, short- and long-term business planning, annual budgeting, quarterly forecasting, financial planning systems, and concise reporting to support business decision making and evaluation of new opportunities. Applies strong business acumen and communication skills to support the business by providing actionable financial analysis enabling key stakeholders to drive business performance.


KEY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develops and regularly maintains restaurant level financial models for reporting needs, analyzes financial and non-financial performance of both company and franchise restaurants, and tracks Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) while collaborating cross-functionally throughout the business.


Provides guidance and assistance to direct reports while leading the development and testing of financial models to accurately reflect and assess company and franchise performance including sales, cost of goods sold, labor, and other restaurant managed costs along with modeling out capital investment, cash flow, and balance sheet items as needed. Modifies these models to reflect any business changes, management decisions, and market impacts. Identifies opportunities for improving analysis processes and procedures and provides input and expertise in the development of systems, procedures, and controls.


Manages assigned components of the corporate and field budgeting and forecasting process by researching and documenting driving assumptions and testing and analyzing with various scenarios. Oversees consolidation and validation of all submissions and provides timely and accurate presentation and analysis material for senior management review.


Oversees preparation of all quarterly and annual related board of director materials. Manages the partnership with the operations team to drive the business forward. Will lead weekly and periodic reviews of both operational and financial metrics with direct reports to develop a deep understanding of business trends that will then be used to regularly update operations leaders on strengths and opportunities within their individual markets along with variances to budget and forecast.


Leads the development of alternative measures for performance thresholds. This includes identifying lagging and leading indicators, analyzing KPIs as they relate to overall brand and operational execution, and evaluating correlations between performance and key business metrics. Develops tracking techniques and reports to pinpoint trends and alerts management as early as possible. Develops applicable data analysis approaches and standard methodologies.


Works with cross-functional business and technical teams to define the right solution for the problem at hand.


Leads the analysis and review of franchise financial performance, including: development of financial analysis tools to identify potential performance issues, reinvestment impact on financial performance, franchisee profitability in new restaurants and new markets, and refranchising financial packages and alternative structures.


Performs other related duties, tasks and responsibilities as required, assigned and directed.


QUALIFICATIONS:

Education - Bachelor's degree or equivalent, preferably in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or related field; MBA preferred.

Experience 5-7 years of related, advanced financial planning & analysis experience, with an emphasis in developing complex financial models including experience in identifying, writing, and prioritizing business requirements. Experience in an FP&A environment, preferably in a multi-unit restaurant, retail, or hospitality concept. Experience with a publicly-held company and exposure to preparation of materials for boards of directors helpful. Previous supervisory experience preferred.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

Demonstrated competence in the use of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel and Word), financial planning applications such as Hyperion, and business intelligence applications such as Tableau

Advanced Excel skills including modeling and analysis techniques required

Broad knowledge of financial concepts and techniques

Proficient in distilling large amounts of data into executive level communication with actionable insights

Ability to see the “big picture” and focus on granular details concurrently

Problem solver, analytical, detailed & process oriented

Self-starter, organized and able to manage multiple priorities (project management)

Sound knowledge of database tools such as Oracle GL, Hyperion Planning and Essbase applications.

Demonstrated financial management and analysis skills and broad knowledge of financial concepts and techniques

Excellent oral and written English communication skills, presentation skills, interpersonal skills and organizational skills

Ability to work independently and take initiative; ability to motivate others

Ability to transfer knowledge by coaching, training and mentoring

Demonstrates integrity and ethical behavior

Physical Requirements: Ability to speak/hear clearly in person and on the telephone. Ability to operate a computer keyboard.

The range for this position is $102,800 - $146,400 and is based on an employee located at our corporate headquarters in San Diego. If the candidate is hired in a different city to work remote, we will apply a geographic pay differential based on the cost of labor in the market in which the employee resides.
