Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and experienced FPGA Design Engineer to join our dynamic and growing team. This role involves developing firmware and/or FPGA architectures based on high-level requirements, conducting target device trade studies, and generating firmware documentation. The successful candidate will design HDL-based digital circuits, build test benches, and verify target device functionality in a laboratory environment. This is an exciting opportunity with tremendous growth potential leading to a Chief Engineer position and ultimately to becoming an Engineering Fellow.
ResponsibilitiesDevelop firmware and/or FPGA architectures based on high-level requirements.Conduct target device trade studies, recommendations, and selection.Generate firmware requirements based on the system architecture.Generate firmware documentation that describes the firmware architecture.Design HDL-based digital circuits that are structured and readable.Build test benches to verify/test the HDL-based design.Generate constraints for the target device.Create scripts to automate build, integration, and test activities.Verify target device functionality in a laboratory environment.Essential SkillsExperience with Xilinx hardware, FPGA, and VHDL.Proficiency in digital circuit design, firmware development, and PWB (Printed Wiring Board).Knowledge of digital circuit design, analog circuit design, RF, and CCA (Circuit Card Assembly).BS Degree in an Engineering-related field.Minimum 1 year of experience in digital circuit design, including design, implementation, test, and debug of digital circuit cards with FPGA’s, ADC’s, and DAC’s that interface with RF components.Proficient in hands-on troubleshooting and debugging of hardware with standard test equipment.Experience with high-speed interfaces for memories, FPGA’s, and processors.Additional Skills & QualificationsFamiliarity with circuit card assembly, final assembly, and test manufacturing processes.Work Environment
The role is based in a lab setting at Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD. This site is now labeled under Collins Aerospace as of 2024. You will work with advanced technologies and equipment, contributing to projects that drive a safer, more connected world.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $62.50/hr.
