Job Description
We are seeking an experienced FPGA Design Engineer to support the development and certification of Electronic Hardware through functional allocation, design, simulation, synthesis, place & route, test planning, verification, and production introduction. The role involves designing state-of-the-art digital hardware, supporting PCB architecture, and managing complex digital systems in FPGA or ASIC.
ResponsibilitiesDevelop and certify the electronics hardware through functional allocation, design, simulation, synthesis, place & route, test planning, verification, and production introduction.Design digital hardware with technologies including processor and DSP interfaces, video signal processing, I/O blocks, and standard logic.Support the architecture, design, and development of PCBs for prototypes and complex digital systems.Participate in program bids, proposals, estimate generation, and project planning.Oversee AEH activities, including task assignments, deliverable planning, and budget and risk management.Serve as the primary interface with other design groups to ensure alignment across design and schedule milestones.Utilize development process and participate in design reviews for performance, safety, reliability, test, and manufacturability.Analyze functional requirements for systems/sub-systems and define FPGA functional and performance requirements.Lead and participate in defining FPGA validation and verification plans.Develop simulation verification test benches, components, and bus-functional models in SystemVerilog using UVM.Develop and implement on-target test environments.Develop, document, and execute test procedures, and write test reports.Provide documentation for requirements, design descriptions, tests, and production support.Support management, manufacturing, and other engineering disciplines in various planning or problem-solving tasks.Essential SkillsBachelor’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or equivalent.Seven or more years of FPGA development experience in the industry.Experience in providing mentorship and technical oversight to junior team members.Self-motivated, adaptable to change, proactive, diligent, and strong interpersonal skills.Knowledge of engineering best practices, methodologies, processes, and tools.Experience in project estimating, planning, tracking, and team oversight.Good communication skills, both written and oral.Additional Skills & QualificationsKnowledge of Avionics products (e.g., Display systems, Sensor systems, GNSS).Experience with Xilinx’s FPGA (7 Series, Ultrascale) and design tool (Vivado).Test automation experience with scripting languages similar to Python.Knowledge of Mathworks products.Knowledge of civil and military aviation standards such as DO-254, DO-160, and MIL-STD-810/461.Knowledge of Modelsim/Questasim.Knowledge of SystemVerilog and UVM.Knowledge of ARINC, AMBA, AXI, PCIe, and Ethernet busses.Experience with design for safety/reliability and flight-critical avionics/safety-of-life systems.Proficiency with configuration, documentation, and trace tools (e.g., Microsoft Office, DOORS).
Work Environment
The role offers a flexible work environment with a combination of in-office (2 days) and remote (3 days) work. Candidates should be willing to come on-site 5 days if needed.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $70.00 - $85.00/hr.
